Frequently asked questions

How accurate is the forecast?
SkyVex combines high-resolution forecast models (including GFS, ECMWF, and ICON) with minute-level precipitation nowcasting. Our Model Comparison view even shows you where the leading models agree or disagree, so you can gauge forecast confidence yourself.

Why does the app need my location?
Your location is used only to fetch the weather, air quality, and alerts for where you are. You can also search for any place manually. Location is never sold or shared for advertising.

Is SkyVex really free?
Yes. Every feature — forecasts, nowcasting, severe-weather alerts, custom alerts, model comparison, air quality, pollen, marine, flood and solar — is free. There is no subscription, no trial, and no in-app purchase.

Why didn't I get a severe-weather or rain alert?
Make sure notifications are enabled for SkyVex in your iPhone Settings, and that the alert types you want are turned on inside the app. Severe-weather warnings are provided by official government sources via Apple Weather and are only available in supported regions.

The "Next hour" rain card isn't showing for my location.
Minute-level nowcasting depends on precipitation data coverage, which varies by region. Where the high-resolution regional feed isn't available, SkyVex automatically falls back to global precipitation data. The card is also hidden whenever no rain is expected in the next hour.
